Industrial
Yatala Logistics Hub
This project is made up of a 30 ha Industrial subdivision consisting of 36 lots within the City of Gold Coast. The project involves a regional pump station and rising main (28 l/s) (CoGC Creditable Works), water network capacity assessment, two external intersection upgrades and external road upgrades. Pump Station work included Civil Engineering Design and Documentation, Construction & Project Management for Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls. Also involved is a cross-connection for a decommissioned existing off-line pump station via a gravity feed for switchover. The project construction has a budget of $1.5million for the pump station and rising main.
Bannister Rd, Canning Vale - Warehouse Refurbishment
The project involved the transformation of an existing 64,700m2 distribution facility from dual tenancy to five isolated tenancy compartments operated by Charter Hall. The works consisted of introducing structural intertenancy walls, new loading dock facilities, large span awning structures, an additional 70 car parking bays with two new vehicle crossovers to Bannister road and 1860m2 of new hardstand pavement for container lay down.
The project presented many challenges as operation of the facility was on-going during the construction phase resulting in additional temporary works and construction sequencing.
Americold Facility Expansion – Spearwood
The project involves constructing a 50m high exoskeleton structure cold storage facility.
The internal racking system is fully automated. Michel Bale & Associates have worked closely with the geotechnical engineer to model the raft slab to ensure settlements are within the stringent tolerances.
Michael Bale & Associated have been engaged to complete the structural engineering services following a successful competitive ECI tender period.
Qube Logistics, New Warehouse & Office – Picton
Michael Bale & Associates were selected uncompetitively to provide structural engineering services on QUBE logistics new warehouse and office at their Picton Facility.
The project involves a full length 5t crane runway and two truck service pits within the new 2000m2 warehouse and cantilevered awnings. There is also 510m2 of office space over two levels.
Construction is ongoing ad due to be complete in mid 2022.
DFE Warehouse & Office, Roe Highway Logistics Park
The development is a new 20,000m2 warehouse facility with two standalone office structures and a workshop purpose built for Direct Freight Express Operations within Hesperia’s Roe Highway logistics precinct. The facility also has extensive external hardstand and a suspended level post tensioned car park.
Michael Bale & Associates have completed the structural engineering after providing value engineering to QD+C reducing the overall steel tonnage by more than 109t in a competitive tender.
Westrac Newman Facility Expansion
The project involved the extension of the existing 2500m2 warehouse and 40t crane runway beam structure. Project difficulty was increased as the facility remained operational during construction and multiple temporary construction load cases had to be considered.
Michael Bale & Associates completed the structural engineering services and construction was completed in 2021.
Kwinana Bulk Terminal - New Office & Warehouse
The project involved the construction of 1300m2 of administration and office space with an additional 550m2 warehouse with a 5t runway crane beam. New access driveways and an additional 56-bay car park we provided.
The buildings were constructed separately utilising a portal frame and a braced box design solution for the administration office and warehouse respectively to reduces overall steel tonnage.
Michael Bale & Associates completed the structural and civil engineering services. Construction was completed in 2019.
Bunnings Warehouse, Midland Sales Yard
The new warehouse development boasts a large 22,560m2 floor area utilising tilt panels and large span steel framing to achieve the open floor areas required by Bunnings.
Michael Bale & Associates have worked through the design of the project from competitive D&C tender documents through detailed design and construction documentation.
The project is currently in site construction phase and is due to be completed in late 2020.
Bunnings, Byron Bay
The Bunnings Byron Bay development is a regional Bunnings store approximately 3000m2 in floor area.
The project includes a clear span steel roof, precast wall panels to two elevations, lightweight steel cladding for two elevations, and concrete slab on ground. Civil works includes external pavements, bulk earthworks for cut and fill, sediment and erosion control and stormwater collections and treatment to the existing SQMP.
Lion Distribution Farm
This project involved the extension of an existing milk distribution center in Molendinar to increase their operational capacity.
The extensions were to a single storey warehouse building, with slab on ground floor and block work walls. Construction was completed while operation was on-going which introduced additional complexities.
Michael Bale & Associates undertook all structural design for Cockram Constructions.
